Financial Controller
2 Days Old
We are working on behalf of a well-established and growing business to recruit an experienced and highly organised Financial Controller to oversee all finance and accounting operations within the business, while managing and supporting a small team of three. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing timely monthly and year-end financial reports for the Group, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, consolidated reporting packs, and key reports such as inventory depreciation and inter-company matching.
You will play a key role in audits, compliance, and reporting by liaising with external auditors and tax advisors, ensuring all statutory filings and company returns are completed accurately and on time, and overseeing HMRC submissions including VAT, PAYE, and P11Ds, as well as Irish Revenue VAT and Relevant Contracts Tax returns.
In addition, you will support senior leadership with budgeting and forecasting, prepare cashflow forecasts, manage daily cash, and conduct detailed sales and margin analysis. The role involves maintaining fixed asset registers and overseeing accruals, prepayments, and inventory accounting. You will also manage treasury functions, including multi-currency bank accounts (GBP, EUR, USD), authorising payments, supporting loan administration, and managing foreign currency exposure. Oversight of HR and payroll processes is required, including reviewing payroll changes, authorising salary payments, and liaising with external HR advisors.
As part of management accounting responsibilities, you will produce and review project status reports, manage revenue recognition and milestone payments, and oversee deferred income, WIP clearing, and inventory reviews. You will also take responsibility for credit control and supplier payments, including reviewing aged debtors, overseeing creditor payments, and advising on credit limits, payment terms, and margin calculations.
Additional duties include coordinating vehicle leasing, liaising with insurance brokers, approving higher-value purchase orders, attending weekly production meetings, and contributing to wider business decision-making.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with a strong background in both management and financial accounting. Manufacturing experience and exposure to long-term project work are highly desirable. You should be proactive, able to work independently, and possess excellent time-management and reporting skills. Proficiency in MS Office and SAP ByDesign is required, along with a full UK driving licence.
