About The Role The Financial Controller is responsible for the delivery and integrity of financial reporting and the effective operation of financial controls across Admiral Pioneer. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role ensures that finance processes, controls and reporting are executed accurately and efficiently, supporting a robust and scalable finance function. The role focuses on operational excellence, control execution and continuous improvement within a growing and evolving business environment. Main Responsibilities
Deliver accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting Prepare statutory accounts and support regulatory reporting processes Ensure reporting complies with relevant accounting standards and internal policies Maintain high‑quality supporting documentation and audit trails Operate and maintain an effective financial control environment Perform and review key controls including reconciliations and balance sheet reviews Support the ongoing development and improvement of financial controls Identify control gaps and escalate issues to the Head of Finance Own day‑to‑day finance processes including period‑end close and reporting cycles Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy and scalability Support implementation of new systems, products and finance processes Ensure appropriate controls are embedded in operational processes Apply technical accounting knowledge to ensure appropriate treatment of transactions Support the assessment and implementation of new accounting standards Provide guidance to the business on accounting implications of new activities Act as a key contact for external audit, coordinating information and responses Prepare audit deliverables and support audit queries Support regulatory reporting processes and ensure deadlines are met Identify financial risks and control issues within finance processes Escalate material risks and issues to the Head of Finance Support remediation actions and track resolution Manage and develop members of the finance team Ensure delivery of high‑quality outputs and adherence to timelines Support capability development within the team Build effective working relationships with stakeholders across finance and the business Provide clear financial information to support operational decision‑making Respond to queries and provide financial insight where required
Essential Experience
Minimum 5 years PQE Financial Services Experience Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) Strong experience in financial reporting and controls Good technical accounting knowledge (IFRS) Experience working in a complex or regulated environment Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable Experience
Audit Experience Experience managing or mentoring others
