Your new company \na well-established, purpose‑driven charity to recruit an experienced Building Manager on a 12-month contract based in London.\nThis is a high‑impact role combining strategic workplace planning with hands‑on facilities and health & safety management, ideal for someone who enjoys shaping how people work while ensuring a safe, well‑run environment.\nYour new role \n\nReporting into the People & Culture function, the Building Manager will play a pivotal role in both the day‑to‑day operation of the London office and in shaping its future use.\nKey responsibilities include:\n\nLeading analysis and recommendations on the best strategic and commercial use of the London office (including sale, rental or alternative options)\nEngaging internal stakeholders to define future office, hybrid and remote working needs\nManaging the smooth operation of the building, including maintenance, utilities, security and suppliers\nActing as primary keyholder, including early opening of the office and emergency call‑outs\nManaging the facilities budget, ensuring strong cost control and value for money\nFull responsibility for health & safety compliance, including acting as Fire Marshal and First Aider (training provided if required)\nOverseeing planned and reactive maintenance within agreed timescales and budgets\nSupporting the closure of a regional office by the end of 2026, including landlord liaison and dilapidations\nWorking with suppliers in a way that aligns with organisational values and social impact goalsWhat you'll need to succeed \nEssential experience\n\nProven background in facilities, building or office management\nStrong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation\nExperience delivering organisation‑wide office or facilities projects\nExperience managing health and safety in both office‑based and remote environments\nBudget management and strong numerical confidence\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels\nStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)\nHighly organised, methodical and detail‑oriented approachDesirable\n\nFire Marshal and/or First Aid certification (or willingness to train)\nExperience within a charity, non‑profit or purpose‑driven organisationWhat you'll get in return \nA 12-month interim role at a competitive day rate with scope for extension\nWhat you need to do now \n\nIf you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.\nIf this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.\n\nHays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
