Job Description
To manage a diverse calendar of events for Racing Breaks and Your Golf Travel, and where required, Premier Golf. Initially, the workload for this role will be split 75% Racing Breaks and 25% Your Golf Travel. You will lead the planning and execution of multiple simultaneous projects to exceed customer expectations while maintaining department objectives regarding revenue, relationship building and growth.
This role requires a dedicated professional with experience in event management ideally within the sporting sector, who possesses strong budgeting skills, meticulous organisation and the ability to foster high-level relationships with suppliers and clients.
Work with the current Event Manager and Head of Tournaments & Events in designing and implementing a communications plan (customer journey) for all Major tournaments and events. Whether they book 12 months, 6 months, 3 months in advance or the week before, responsibility (along with the support of the Head of Tournament & Events and the Event Operations Coordinator) to ensure all customers feel well looked after and have all of the information they require before travel.
Ensure teams are fully briefed on responsibilities prior to events and work with Event Manager and the Head of Tournaments & Events on specific requirements needed for tournaments.
This is an exciting opportunity to expand our Events team as Events Manager focussing on event management and working with the current Event Manager and the Head of Events. Attention to details is key!

As an Events Manager with Your Golf Travel and Racing Breaks you will primarily be responsible for assisting and delivering Racing Breaks events for 70% of your time and 30% of your time will be on Your Golf Travel events, YGT golf days, Albatross golf days and company events.
Working closely with the Head of Tournaments & Events to ensure all operational and logistical requirements have been accounted for and assisting onsite at all events required. Working closely with the team to ensure all changes and amendments are executed and confirmed.
If you have a passion for travel, horse racing and golf, great communication and customer facing skills and an eye for detail then this is the role. Horse racing & Golf experience isn't essential however as you will be communicating about these subjects day to day, an interest will be valuable.
This role will require a fair amount of travel both nationally and internationally.
Event Specific Responsibilities will include;
- Work alongside the current Events Manager and Head of Tournaments & Events with operational plans for onsite elements of itineraries for all Racing Breaks and a selection of Your Golf Travel events such as transfers, ticketing, add ons, hospitality and travel manifests
- Lead with the sending of customer communications
- Lead alongside current Event Manager in day to day operations of the team
- Work closely with the team to ensure excellent fulfilment processes for bookings, confirmations and amendments
- Attend Racing Breaks and Your Golf Travel events where required by the Head of Tournaments & Events
Roles to include, but not limited to;
1) Product & Supplier Management
- Contract Management - Responsible for managing contracts and relationships with key suppliers including hotels, racecourses, golf venues, transfers and ancillary businesses
- Rate Negotiation - Negotiate rates and commissions to drive the best possible value for the Palatinate Group
- Allocation Oversight - Confirm and manage hotel and ancillary allocations and arrangements for all event itineraries
2) Event Planning & Execution
- Tournament Operations - Where required, work with current Event Manager and the Head of Tournaments & Events with operational plans for major global events including Cheltenham, Ascot, The Masters, Solheim Cup, Ryder Cup, Arc de Triomphe and The Open and many more events
- Project Delivery - Create event materials, including project plans, timelines and itineraries, ensuring all events are delivered on time and within budget
- Customer Journey - Lead alongside events team, the customer communications to ensure all guests feel well-looked after and possess all necessary information prior to travel
- Collateral Coordination - Brief the design team to create high-quality invitations, promotional materials and guest information packs
3) Onsite & Team Leadership
- Event Attendance - Attend events nationally and internationally to look after guests and lead onsite operations
- Team Management - Manage team onsite at specific events and brief staff on their responsibilities prior to the event start
- Composure - Maintain professional composure and a positive attitude during long, high-pressure, or anti-social working hours
4) Internal Collaboration & Growth
- Sales Liaison - Work closely with the sales team to ensure products match customer needs and meet financial forecasts without overselling commitments
- Partnerships - Assist the team to leverage ambassadors, celebrities and media to create high-profile, value-for-money experiences
- Website Maintenance - Responsible for updating the team on commitments so they can maintain the website, including creating new pages, tickets and managing inventory
- Continuous Improvement - Review client feedback and financial expenditure to improve future event delivery and strategic objectives
Skills/Abilities;
- Flawless attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, IT and office/G-Suite skills along with a methodical approach
- Excellent prioritisation and time management skills coupled with ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Highly organised and motivated
- Must have a valid UK driving licence*
- Available to travel around the UK and abroad
- Ability to maintain composure on site
- Sustaining a smile and sense of humour during the long, anti-social working hours
Managing People:
- To be responsible for managing teams onsite at Racing Breaks and Your Golf Travel events and assist the Head of Tournaments & Events as Operational leads at the biggest events in order to fulfil event criteria and duties
Personal Attributes:
- Excellent G-Suite skills
- Excellent communicator with brilliant personal and team working skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be extremely punctual and well organised
