Estates & Environmental Improvement Manager

Are you someone who enjoys improving neighbourhoods, working with residents and leading practical projects that make estates cleaner, greener and safer?

We are looking for an Estates & Environmental Improvement Manager to lead a team that delivers visible improvements across Croydon’s housing estates.

This role is about turning ideas into action managing improvement projects, working with residents, and making sure estates are places people feel proud to live in.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Estates & Environmental Improvement Manager, you will:

  • Lead a small team delivering estate and environmental improvement projects
  • Plan and manage a programme of work such as:
    • estate enhancements
    • improvements to communal areas
    • environmental projects
  • Work directly with residents to understand what matters to them and involve them in shaping improvements
  • Organise and lead resident events, including when issues are sensitive or high profile
  • Work closely with housing teams, contractors, councillors and community groups
  • Make sure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget
  • Track progress, measure impact and report on results
  • Manage a revenue budget of around £1m, ensuring value for money
  • Ensure health & safety, safeguarding and council policies are followed
This is a hands-on management role with clear, visible outcomes.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Experience managing multiple projects, programmes or improvement work
  • Confidence working with residents, communities and stakeholders
  • Experience leading and supporting a team
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A practical, problem solving approach
  • Experience managing budgets or funding
  • An understanding of health & safety and working safely in public spaces
  • Experience of managing contractor's performance and compliance with contractual

Most importantly, you should care about making neighbourhoods better and be motivated by delivering real improvements people can see.
