Electrical Maintenance Engineer (a.k.a. Someone Who Knows What That Flashing Light Means)
£51,916 | 4 on, 4 off (2 days, 2 lates)
This isn’t an “electrical support function.” It’s a job fixing stuff before it catches fire.
And if you’ve worked in a factory before, you know exactly what I mean.
This is a solid maintenance team, keeping things ticking over at a brick manufacturing site. It's not glamorous. It’s not full of buzzwords. It’s just real engineering work – getting your hands dirty, solving problems, and keeping the plant alive.
Some things you’ll be doing:
Fixing faults before anyone in management even notices there’s a problem
Programming Siemens PLCs (and poking around inside others)
Installing kit, running tests, doing PPMs, and hitting breakdowns head-on
Getting involved with lean projects and SSOW docs (yes, the paperwork has to be done – sorry)
Basically making sure the electrics don’t let the whole place down
You’ll be working a 4-on, 4-off shift – 2 days (6am–6pm), 2 lates (12pm–12am). Then you're off for 4. Sleep in. Do the school run. Go fishing. Whatever.
You’ll need:
An Electrical Engineering qualification (Level 3 or above)
Experience in a manufacturing or factory setting
A clue when it comes to health & safety (you’ve got one pair of hands – look after them)
The ability to get stuck in and not complain when things get hectic
Knowledge of PLCs and fault-finding (if you’re handy with a meter, even better)
Nice to have, but not essential:
17th/18th Edition
HNC/HND
An actual apprenticeship under your belt
Experience in heavy industry
In return, you’ll get:
£51,916 a year (paid weekly)
Overtime if you want it
A say in how things run – and a manager who listens
Training, pension, life assurance
And the chance to become a shareholder in the company
There’s a load of company blurb I could throw in here – international presence, ISO this, sustainability that – but let’s be honest: if the job sounds good, you’ll want a chat. If it doesn’t, you won’t.
If you’re up for something hands-on, solid, and actually rewarding, hit apply or drop me a line
