Principal EICA Engineer \n\nLocation: Manchester \nFlexibility: 2-3 days in the office/ week\nSector: Water\nStart date: ASAP\n\nRole Overview:\n\nWe are currently seeking a Principal EICA Engineer to work in Manchester. This is a senior-level role suited to experienced engineers capable of leading or supporting major project delivery within the Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (EICA) discipline. You will report to the Project Lead Engineer or take the lead on specific projects.\n\nYour Responsibilities:\n\nProduce cost-effective design documents that meet specifications and can be procured, installed, and commissioned efficiently.\n\nDeliver outline electrical, instrumentation and control designs.\n\nCarry out site surveys and attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), producing detailed reports.\n\nEnsure compliance of designs (including subcontractor work) with project specs and budget.\n\nTake technical ownership of EC&I aspects, including preparation, checking, and/or approval of documents.\n\nAllocate workloads and ensure timely delivery in line with project schedules.\n\nComply with all relevant legislation, codes of practice, and client/company standards.\n\nPrepare EICA equipment/material requisitions and scopes of work for installation.\n\nReview supplier quotations and produce technical bid assessments.\n\nMore specific tasks may include:\n\nHigh Voltage (HV) Design\n\nSite Construction & Commissioning Support\n\nQualifications:\n\nDegree in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering)\n\nApprenticeship pathways may be considered\n\nChartered or Incorporated status (or actively working towards)\n\nTechnical Experience:\n\nOver 15 years of experience in engineering, particularly in water or related sectors\n\nDeep understanding of design practices and installation requirements\n\nStrong knowledge of UK legislation & standards, including WIMES\n\nFamiliarity with explosive area requirements (e.g., ATEX)\n\nExperience in CE Marking and compliance (PED, LVD, Machinery Directive, EMC)\n\nRisk management and HSE awareness
