Electrical Design Engineer\n\nLocation: Hybrid / Gloucester\n\nSalary: Up to £55,000 per annum + Benefits\n\nEmployment Type: Permanent\n\nHours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm (40 hours per week)\n\nReporting to: Engineering Manager\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team and play a key role in delivering innovative, compliant, and manufacturable engineering solutions. You will be responsible for the electrical design of products from initial concept through to production, supporting both new product development and the continuous improvement of existing designs.\n\nThis role is ideal for a proactive engineer with strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of electrical compliance and safety standards, and experience working within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nResearch and develop new product concepts, while enhancing existing designs based on customer, production, and market feedback.\n\nLead the electrical design of special purpose equipment, including control panel layouts, schematics, and cable schedules.\n\nSpecify and select electrical components to meet performance, safety, and compliance requirements.\n\nDevelop and integrate PLC-based control systems, including I/O definition, configuration, and functional documentation (PLC programming experience desirable but not essential).\n\nProduce and maintain comprehensive electrical documentation, including wiring diagrams, design calculations, and bills of materials.\n\nParticipate in design reviews, risk assessments, and verification and validation testing.\n\nEssential Qualifications & Experience\n\nMinimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience in a product design or development role.\n\nExperience working in R&D or New Product Development environments.\n\nDesirable Experience\n\nControl panel design for industrial or commercial applications.\n\nWorking knowledge of PLC-based control systems and Variable Speed Drives.\n\nPersonal Attributes\n\nHighly organised with excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information.\n\nSelf-motivated, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.\n\nComfortable working autonomously while also open to feedback and guidance.\n\n\nFor more information, contact Rory McStay
