Position Design Manager

Location North West

Pay Rate £400-a-day to £480-a-day

Contract length 6mths -24mths depending on performance with potential to extend

The Role

After a series of project wins an exciting opportunity has arisen at one of UK’s largest main contractors. They are looking to recruit a Design Manager to join their fit out and refurbishment division. A highly successful company working on some of the UK’s most prestigious construction projects with an annual turnover more than £2bn and over 2000 employees nationwide.

They cover a range of sectors including Retail, Education, Commercial, blue lights, custodial, Data centres and Distribution.

The initial projects you would be working on are large refurbishments for emergency services facilities/hubs with the values between £5-£15m.

Key Accountabilities will include:

* Manage the proposals

* Produce and negotiate the project specific designer agreements scope of works and the design management plan, ensuring they are agreed and fully understood by all parties

* Ensure the project design is reviewed, mitigating Health & Safety issues

* Produce & manage a realistic design programme & information required schedule satisfying design, procurement & construction requirements

* Provide input into the design team PDR's

* Support the implementation of Continuous Improvement programmes and innovation.

Candidate Experience

* The successful individual will have worked for a main contractor or as lead Architect on fit-out or refurbishment projects previously.

* Blue lights experience or similar government frameworks projects would be but aren't essential

* The individual will have been the lead Design Manager or Architect on projects previously and will have experience taking projects from inception through to completion.

* Excellent IT Skills, Numeracy and good written communications skills are required.
