Design Manager) - Position Overview \n\nOur client, a well - established construction company based in Dunston area is looking to recruit an experienced Design Manager\n\nAs a Design Manager, you will play a key role within the Design Department, taking responsibility for managing individual construction schemes. Your primary focus will be coordinating all technical information between external consultants and internal departments, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and to the highest standards.\n\nYou will support multiple operating companies, including Structural & Civil Engineering, Construction, Building Services, and Facilities Management, contributing to design coordination, structural detailing, architectural support, and quality assurance\n\nRemuneration\n\nSalary: £65,000 - £70,000 (dependent on experience)\nMonday to Friday 08:00 - 17:00 (Earlier finish on a Friday)\n25 days leave (in addition to public holidays), plus an additional birthday bonus\nSalary Sacrifice Pension Scheme\nDeath in Service Benefit\nProfit Share Scheme\nCycle to Work SchemeKey Responsibilities\n\nLead and manage the full design process across multiple projects\nCoordinate technical information between internal teams and external consultants\nEnsure all necessary approvals are obtained from stakeholders and local authorities, including section agreements and service applications\nProvide technical input during feasibility and throughout the construction phase\nManage the timely distribution of design information to relevant parties\nCoordinate legal and compliance requirements, including agreements, bonds, warranties, and insurances\nIdentify, appoint, and manage external consultants, including agreeing scope, fees, and deliverables\nOversee submission of building regulations and warranty applications\nDevelop and maintain detailed design programmes, identifying key milestones and critical paths\nSupport, manage, and develop members of the internal design team\nConduct quality reviews to ensure construction aligns with design specifications\nCoordinate planning and building control approvals and manage discharge of conditionsEssential Qualifications\n\nHNC/HND in Construction & Engineering or equivalentEssential Experience & Skills\n\nExperience with a main contractor, architectural practice, or in design coordination/architectural technology\nStrong communication skills with the ability to manage and lead a team\nProven ability to manage consultants and warranty providers\nAbility to identify risks and implement effective solutions\nExperience monitoring and managing the design process\nFamiliarity with drawing management systems (e.g., Viewpoint, PIM, online portals)\nExperience managing RFIs and liaising with multidisciplinary teams\nUnderstanding of value engineering principles\nProactive and organised approach to work \n\nStreamline Search is a technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex operating across the United Kingdom.
