Lead Electrical Design Manager) - Position Overview \n\nOur client, a well-established construction company, is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Manager to join their MEP design team.\n\nYou will be responsible for delivering detailed electrical designs and coordinated construction information across a range of projects. This hands-on role ensures all design outputs support efficient on-site delivery for M&E contractors.\n\nReporting to the Head of MEP Design, you will represent the design team in client-facing settings such as workshops, progress meetings, and technical reviews, contributing technical expertise to successful project delivery.\n\nKey duties include producing high-quality design documentation (drawings, specifications, calculations), collaborating with the BIM Manager to ensure coordinated digital delivery, and mentoring junior engineers while managing workflows and deadlines.\n\n(Lead Electrical Design Manager) - Position Remuneration \n\nSalary: £45,000 - £60,000 (dependent on experience) including car allowence\nMonday to Friday 08:00 - 17:00 (Earlier finish on a Friday)\n25 days leave (in addition to public holidays), plus an additional birthday bonus\nSalary Sacrifice Pension Scheme\nDeath in Service Benefit\nProfit Share Scheme\nCycle to Work Scheme \n\n(Lead Electrical Design Manager) - Position Requirements \n\nGeneral requirements \n\nYou must maintain strict confidentiality regarding the company and its clients at all times, and work safely and efficiently in line with training, Company Safety Policy, and HSE guidelines.\n\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage professionally with clients and staff, both verbally and in writing, while maintaining high standards of presentation.\n\nYou should be able to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision, prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, demonstrating a flexible and conscientious approach.\n\nOnce inducted, you should demonstrate a clear understanding of the Company's structure, values and procedures, including the QEMS. In relation to this, you must advise your line manager immediately of any visits to site by external agencies such as the Health & Safety Executive, Environmental Health Officers etc.\n\nEssential Skills: \n\nDegree-qualified in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)\nMinimum 3+ years' experience in electrical design, with a proven track record of owning and delivering design packages\nDemonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical deliverables, including drawings, specifications, schedules and schematics\nProficient in industry-standard design tools for lighting and electrical calculations (e.g.
Amtech, Dialux, Relux or equivalent)\nStrong working knowledge of relevant British Standards and statutory compliance requirements\nThorough understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition)\nExperience coordinating designs within multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, structural and architectural)\nConfident in reviewing and interpreting technical information to ensure accuracy, compliance and buildability\nExperience working within BIM environments, with the ability to provide clear and coordinated drawing mark-ups\nExcellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders\nStrong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet project deadlines\nProactive approach to risk management, including the development of risk registers and practical mitigation strategies\nHigh attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality, compliant design solutions\nAbility to critically review external designs, identifying non-compliance, risks and opportunities, and supporting RFIs and technical queries\nProficient in Microsoft Office and general documentation tools \n\nDesirable Skills: \n\nExperience producing high-level performance specifications and design packages for Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)\nChartered Engineer (CEng) status and Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)\nWorking knowledge of Department for Education (DfE) guidelines and Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) compliance requirements\nUnderstanding of decarbonisation strategies, including the ability to undertake energy modelling, simulations and financial appraisals (carbon savings, ROI), using historical half hourly data to establish performance baselines\nProficient in Revit, with strong experience operating within a BIM-led design environment\nCommercially aware, with a solid understanding of project delivery within construction settings\nExperience working in close collaboration with, or directly for, Main Contractors or M&E Contractors\nFamiliar with coordinating fire stopping requirements and producing compliant builder's work drawings and schedules\nExperience contributing to value engineering (VE) processes, with the ability to evaluate and communicate broader project impacts\nProactive in developing and implementing processes that enhance team efficiency and overall design delivery \n\nStreamline Search is a technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex operating across the United Kingdom.
