Are you confident, organised, and passionate about supporting young people in a secondary school setting? A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Barnet, North London is seeking a reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team on a part-time, temporary basis from January 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates considering a career in teaching, experienced teaching assistants, or education professionals who enjoy working with young people across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Staff are well-supported by experienced leadership and clear behaviour policies, making this an excellent place to build confidence and experience.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will:
• Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff
• Deliver pre-set lesson plans and ensure students remain on task
• Maintain a positive and safe classroom environment
• Support pupils with varying needs, including SEN, where required
• Liaise with teaching staff and report on student progress and behaviour
You will not be expected to plan lessons, making this a great role for those who enjoy classroom interaction without the pressures of full teaching responsibility.

• Has experience working with young people (education, youth work, or similar)
• Is confident managing a classroom and engaging students
• Has strong communication and organisational skills
• Is patient, adaptable, and professional
