Job Summary
The post holder will support and help build the shared purpose and vision for improvement at GESH. They will support the development, implementation and application of a group-wide improvement culture and quality management system. This will support the group to deliver its key strategic priorities, enhancing staff capability and capacity, investing in people to continually improve clinical care, financial and operational efficiency, and effectiveness across each core business. Building improvement capability for the long‑term while delivering purposeful improvement to support current challenges.
Main Duties of the Job
Ensure all improvement work aligns with the shared purpose and vision and question any work that does not.
Support creation of a powerful, purpose‑driven context and narrative for improvement work so people are more likely to engage.
Understand frontline staff’s challenges, successes and desired improvements to guide the vision and shared purpose.
Design, develop & implement a group‑wide system of working that enables and sustains a culture of continuous improvement.
Support teams with capabilities to improve safety, reduce unwarranted variation and adopt operational best practices using improvement skills.

Job Responsibilities
Promote a culture of safety, high reliability, patient and staff engagement and performance excellence through improvement skills.
Develop, evaluate and maintain metrics to demonstrate delivery.
Support business transformation & improvement within the group and wider networks.
Lead co‑production in developing solutions and improvement.
Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure coherent culture, continuous improvement & leadership development activities.
Identify improvement priorities aligned to strategy, quality & performance priorities.
Design ways to celebrate and share good practice.
Develop leadership behaviours for improvement.
Provide subject‑matter expertise and lead implementation of the GESH approach to embed leadership practices.
Embed a coaching leadership style and people‑oriented approach to change.
Support leaders to embed new ways of working and habits.
Build excellent relationships with staff at all levels, including executive, corporate, clinical and service leads.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
Formal training in Improvement or change management.
Desirable Qualifications
Formal qualification in Lean or other relevant improvement methodology.
Essential Knowledge
Significant experience and successful track record at senior level in an improvement function.
Experience coaching teams to improve performance using a human‑orientated approach.
Designing and facilitating workshops or team interventions towards agreed outcomes.
Essential Skills
Able to influence and engage people in different settings.
Proven conceptual and analytical skills.
