Overview Provide with the other consultants a mutual out of hours cover for annual, study and professional leave. Out of hours responsibilities include 1 in 11 weeknights on call and 1 in 11 weekend cover. The role involves delivering preventive, diagnostic and treatment services to James Paget University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, with responsibility for the proper functioning of the department. Responsibilities
Provide mutual out of hours cover with other consultants, including 1 in 11 weeknights on call and 1 in 11 weekend cover. Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff, including teaching, examination and accreditation duties. Participate in medical audit, Clinical Governance processes, CPD and research. Manage budgetary responsibilities where appropriate. Work on behalf of the Trust or services provided by the Trust to other agencies in agreement with the Terms and Conditions of Service, observing Trust policies and procedures. Comply with local and national employment, personnel, health and safety policies. Facilitate contacts from staff with delegated duties for personally accountable patient care.
Qualifications
Consultant Paediatrician with dynamic and motivated approach. Experience in Acute Paediatrics and Neonates, with a special interest in Respiratory Medicine/Allergy. Substantive appointment: must hold CCT in General Paediatrics or be within 6 months of attaining it. Responsible for 1:11 Hot/ward weeks, 1:11 week of SCBU cover (clinics will be cancelled during these weeks) and 2.5 outpatient clinics weekly. On call covering the children's ward and a level 1 NICU; 1:11 on call (resident until 22:00 and then non‑resident). FTE 10 PA's; DCC 8.5 + SPA 1.5.
