Position Consultant in Acute Medicine – Permanent, full‑time post at Ipswich Hospital. Qualifications

Completion of CCT or equivalent (CESR). Must be on the Specialist Register.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive assessment of all medical emergencies. Liaise closely with other departments and allied health professionals within the EAU department. Lead acute assessment, triage and management of all patients in the EAU. Collaborate with senior therapists and nurses to categorize patient needs and ensure appropriate care. Work closely with the Emergency Department to facilitate delivery of ED performance indicators. Supervise and train assigned EAU junior staff and ensure efficient patient flow through the unit. Maintain databases and performance records of admissions and assessment provision, acting as a resource for this information. Contribute to teaching of medical students and junior staff, including a regular slot in medical registrar teaching. Encourage and support the successful applicant to pursue specialist interests, including FAMUS training.
