VDV Search is partnering with a leading global strategic transformation consultancy to appoint a Commercial Senior Consultant into their EMEA team.


This consultancy works at the intersection of strategy, insight, creativity and execution, partnering with senior leaders to identify new sources of growth, navigate complexity, and shape what’s next for their organisations.

Commercial Strategy sits at the core of how this consultancy helps clients rethink and evolve their business models — today and into the future.


As a Commercial Senior Consultant, you will be a senior practitioner and emerging leader, responsible for leading complex strategic engagements, shaping high-quality strategic output, and crafting compelling narratives that drive real commercial impact.


This role is suited to someone who has spent 2–3 years operating in a comparable senior strategy role and who brings experience from venture capital, ventures firms, and/or innovation consultancies, where commercial rigour, ambiguity, and future-focused thinking are part of the day-to-day.


What You’ll Be Responsible For


Strategy Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead large-scale growth, commercial, and innovation strategy programmes end to end
  • Set strategic direction, prioritise work, and ensure delivery to the highest standard
  • Translate complex insight and data into clear opportunities for growth and innovation


Strategic Thinking & Storytelling

  • Own and shape strategic narratives that connect insight, imagination, and commercial logic
  • Distil complexity into clear points of view that land with senior stakeholders
  • Use both quantitative and qualitative insight to inform decision-making and direction


Insight & Problem-Solving

  • Lead strategic framing and insight generation across multiple lenses (customer, brand, culture, commercial, capability)
  • Reframe challenges, unlock new possibilities, and inspire fresh thinking across teams


Client Partnership & Commercial Growth

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior clients, constructively challenging briefs and shaping ambition
  • Support business development through pitching, proposals, and selling recommendations
  • Collaborate with creative and specialist teams to ensure strategic intent carries through to execution


Team Leadership & Culture

  • Line manage and mentor team members, supporting their development and progression
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture
  • Lead by example, bringing energy, clarity, and momentum to both clients and colleagues


What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a strategist who combines rigour, creativity, and commercial instinct, and who is motivated to shape both client outcomes and their own trajectory.


You’ll Bring:

  • 2–3 years’ experience in a comparable senior strategy role (e.g. Senior Consultant with AD-level responsibility, or equivalent)
  • Experience gained within venture capital, ventures firms, and/or innovation consultancies — where future-focused thinking, ambiguity, and value creation are central
  • Strong grounding in growth, commercial, innovation or transformation strategy
  • Proven experience leading strategic workstreams and engaging senior stakeholders
  • Exceptional storytelling skills — able to turn complexity into clear, compelling narratives
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of how value is created
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies and their implications for business
