Commercial Manager - NEC Contracts\n\nManchester / North West\n\n£75,000 - £85,000 + attractive package\n\nYour new company\n\nA well-established and growing civil engineering and infrastructure contractor based in Manchester. The business delivers a range of civils, utilities and groundworks projects across the North West and wider UK, working with both public and private sector clients. Known for technical expertise, strong leadership and a collaborative culture, the company continues to expand through repeat business and long-term frameworks.\n\nYour new role\n\nOur client is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager with strong NEC contract experience to lead the commercial function across multiple civil engineering projects.

You will play a key role in protecting commercial position, managing risk and driving profitability while working closely with operational and senior leadership teams.\n\nResponsibilities will include:\n\nManaging all commercial and contractual aspects of projects from pre-contract through to final account.\n\nAdministration of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts, including early warnings, compensation events and change management.\n\nPreparing and agreeing valuations, variations, applications for payment and final accounts.\n\nOverseeing cost control, forecasting, cash flow and commercial reporting.\n\nManaging subcontract procurement, negotiation and performance.\n\nIdentifying, managing and mitigating commercial risk while maximising value.\n\nProviding accurate commercial reports and updates to senior management.\n\nSupporting and mentoring junior commercial staff where required.\n\nWorking collaboratively with project and delivery teams to ensure commercial alignment.\n\nWhat you will need to succeed:\n\nProven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering or infrastructure.\n\nStrong working knowledge of NEC contracts and their practical application.\n\nBackground in main contracting, civils, utilities or groundworks environments.\n\nExcellent commercial awareness, negotiation and communication skills.\n\nAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.\n\nDegree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar (RICS desirable but not essential).\n\nWhat you get in return:\n\nCompetitive salary of £75,000 - £85,000.\n\nAttractive benefits package including pension, bonus and annual leave.\n\nOpportunity to work on varied and technically challenging civils projects.\n\nSupportive, professional working environment with clear routes for progression.\n\nLong-term career stability within a growing and respected contractor.\n\nApply: If you're interested in this opportunity, then please get in touch today with our Commercial Specialist, Mark Harris. \nBuilding Careers UK specialises in Construction and Property recruitment and serves as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
