Role Overview:

The Engagement Manager serves as a critical bridge between Volante and our customers, focusing specifically on payment solutions. This role combines deep expertise in the payments industry with exceptional customer engagement, business analysis, and project oversight skills. The ideal candidate will ensure customer success by understanding their unique needs, driving the successful implementation and adoption of our products and services.


Key Responsibilities:

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key clients, acting as their primary point of contact for all project-related matters.
  • Proactively engage with clients to understand their business strategies, payment challenges, and evolving requirements.
  • Manage client expectations effectively, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through upselling and cross-selling of payment products and services.

Payment Domain Expertise & Solutioning:

  • Possess a deep understanding of the payments landscape, including various payment rails (e.g., credit/debit cards, ACH, FedNow, SWIFT, RTP, FedNow, SEPA, CHIPS, FedWire, LYNX, Card Rails real-time payments, alternative payments), payment processing flows, regulatory compliance (e.g., PCI DSS, AML), and industry trends.
  • Provide expert guidance to clients on optimizing their payment strategies and leveraging our payment solutions to achieve their business objectives.
  • Conduct thorough business analysis to capture client requirements and translate them into clear, concise functional specifications for Services, product and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure client requirements are accurately understood and prioritized within the product roadmap.

Project and Delivery Oversight:

  • Support the full lifecycle of solution implementations, from initial engagement and scoping through successful delivery and post-launch support.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between clients, internal product teams, engineering, sales, and support functions.
  • Drive the resolution of delivery challenges, resource contentions, and scoping issues.


Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in technology, Business Administration, Finance, Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in a client-facing role within the payments industry (e.g., payment service provider, fintech, financial institution).
  • Proven experience in account management, engagement management, or consulting with a focus on payment solutions.
  • Strong track record of successfully managing complex client engagements and driving project delivery.
  • Experience with requirements gathering, business analysis, and functional specification documentation.

Skills:

  • Payments Expertise: In-depth knowledge of payment technologies, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Client Management: Exceptional interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt language for both business and technical audiences.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Leadership & Influence: Demonstrated ability to lead by example, influence stakeholders, and drive consensus.
  • Project Management: Solid understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Business Acumen: Ability to understand client business needs, articulate value propositions, and identify commercial opportunities.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple parallel work streams.
  • Technical Aptitude: Sufficient technical understanding to liaise effectively with engineering teams.


Desired Attributes:

  • Good knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Working knowledge of Web application APIs, Database (RDBMS, NoSQL), Webservices (REST, SOAP), Microservices, Middleware components like IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, Streaming services like Kafka, Containers (Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Positive attitude and outlook, determined, enthusiastic, and resilient.
  • Quick learner within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with agreed remit and autonomy.
