A UK-based Corporate and Investment Bank is seeking an experienced Chief Compliance Officer to lead its Compliance function and oversee the firm’s regulatory framework across its UK operations. This is a senior leadership role requiring an individual who currently holds SMF16 (Compliance Oversight) and SMF17 (Money Laundering Reporting Officer) under the UK Senior Managers & Certification Regime. Reporting directly to senior executive leadership, the Chief Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring the firm maintains a robust compliance and financial crime framework aligned with UK regulatory expectations. The role will provide strategic oversight of regulatory compliance, market conduct, and financial crime controls across the bank’s corporate and investment banking activities. Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the UK Compliance function, including regulatory compliance, market conduct, and financial crime oversight. Act as the firm’s SMF16 and SMF17, maintaining regulatory accountability for compliance oversight and anti-money laundering frameworks. Provide strategic guidance to senior management and the Board on regulatory developments and compliance risks. Ensure the firm maintains effective policies, procedures, and controls aligned with UK regulatory expectations. Oversee monitoring, surveillance, and compliance assurance programmes across corporate and investment banking activities. Maintain strong relationships with UK regulators and act as a key point of contact during regulatory interactions. Drive a strong compliance culture across the organisation through leadership, training, and engagement with senior stakeholders.
Requirements
Current holder of SMF16 and SMF17 within a UK regulated financial institution. Significant experience within Compliance leadership roles in Corporate & Investment Banking. Strong knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks, financial crime regulations, and market conduct requirements. Proven ability to engage effectively with regulators, senior management, and board-level stakeholders. Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing Compliance teams.
