Bid Writer / Assistant Business Development Manager | Wigan
About the Company
We are seeking a professional to join a leading main contractor operating across Building, Infrastructure, Fit Out, and Engineering sectors. The role is based in the Northwest of England, covering Greater Manchester and Merseyside, supporting the growth of the pre-construction department.
About the Role
Join the pre-construction team of a leading main contractor specialising in new build and refurbishment projects across the region. You will support bid writing, ensuring submissions highlight clients’ key drivers and motivations, which you will uncover through face-to-face client engagement alongside the Regional Business Development Manager. This role uniquely combines creativity, strategic thinking, and client interaction, offering a blend of responsibilities that support both personal growth and regional business success.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft compelling and persuasive bid submissions that enhance quality, tone, and competitiveness.
- Engage directly with clients to understand their priorities, ensuring bids are tailored and strategic.
- Support long-term succession planning, with the potential to step into a leadership role.
- Focus initially on bid writing, with opportunities to expand into broader business development and client networking.
- Utilise AI and emerging technologies to improve bid quality, consistency, and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Degree in English Literature, or a related discipline preferred
- Based within a commutable distance to Wigan
- Demonstrated interest in bid writing and proposal development
