In this role, you’ll be a valued member of our specialist team at a respected Scottish law firm known for a pragmatic, commercially focused approach. Based in Glasgow, you’ll work with a diverse portfolio of clients, building trusted relationships, advising at a strategic level, and delivering advice that makes a real impact. You’ll join a collaborative team with a strong culture, supportive colleagues, and a focus on developing your skills and career. You will take an active role in managing banking and finance transactions from instruction through to completion. Depending on experience, you will lead transactions with appropriate supervision, acting as a key contact for clients, managing transaction timetables, coordinating conditions precedent and driving matters to signing and completion. Areas You Will Gain Exposure To Include
Corporate Lending & Security – Advise both lenders and borrowers on facility agreements and associated security documentation, including Scots law standard securities, statutory pledges, floating charges, assignations and guarantees. Acquisition Finance – Support leveraged buyouts, MBOs, and private equity transactions with tailored funding solutions. Real Estate Finance – Act for lenders and borrowers on investment and development finance across commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects. Asset-Based Lending – Structure and negotiate facilities secured against receivables, inventory, and other assets. Structured Finance – Advise on securitisations, receivables financing, and complex funding structures involving multiple asset classes and jurisdictions. Marine Finance – Support vessel acquisition, construction, registration, and financing, including ship mortgages and cross-border marine lending. Debt Restructuring & Refinancing – Guide clients through complex restructurings, distressed debt scenarios, and refinancing strategies. Multi-jurisdictional Transactions – Work with domestic and international lenders and clients to structure and complete transactions across multiple jurisdictions.
Qualifications
Qualified as a Solicitor in Scotland, with post-qualifying experience (ideally 2+ years PQE in banking or other commercial law with an interest in specialising, or with experience in pure banking work). Previous exposure to one or more of our key practice areas, including corporate lending, asset-based or structured finance, or debt restructuring is preferred. Hands-on experience advising on facility agreements and associated security documentation. Strong analytical skills with a commercial, solutions-focused approach. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to contribute to multiple projects and deadlines effectively. A calm, pragmatic approach with the ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of service. Proactive approach to business development.
