Associate Power Electronics & Controls EngineerMilton Keynes Competitive Salary + BenefitsOverviewWe are seeking an Associate Power Electronics & Controls Engineer to support the development of advanced electronic and control systems for high-performance automotive, motorsport, and aerospace applications. This role focuses on the integration of power electronics and embedded control, working on microcontroller-based systems that drive and optimise high-voltage hardware.The RoleYou will contribute to the design, development, and validation of embedded control and power electronic systems, taking ownership of defined work packages within a multidisciplinary engineering team.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop embedded control systems for power electronic applicationsImplement real-time control using microcontrollers / DSPsContribute to firmware development (C/C++) for control and diagnosticsSupport design of analogue and control circuitryInterface with power electronics hardware (IGBTs, MOSFETs, gate drivers)Perform simulation, testing, and validation activitiesTroubleshoot issues and support root cause analysisContribute to system integration (e.g. CAN) and engineering documentationWhat Were Looking ForDegree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (or equivalent)~13 years experience in embedded systems, controls, or power electronicsStrong first principles approach to problem solvingExperience with microcontrollers / embedded systems and C/C++Understanding of control systems (e.g. feedback loops, PID)Experience in analogue and power electronics design (up to ~1000V desirable)Knowledge of IGBTs, MOSFETs, and associated drive circuitryExperience with schematic capture, PCB design, and circuit simulation (e.g. LTSpice)Exposure to testing, validation, and debuggingExperience in automotive, motorsport, or aerospace environments is advantageousAwareness of safety-critical standards (e.g. ISO 26262 or DO-254)Desirable ExperienceSiC / GaN (wide bandgap) devicesEMC-aware design in line with global standardsDevelopment and execution of validation plansExperience with Altium Designer, PSIMExposure to DFMEA / FTA and structured engineering processesTolerance analysis and lifetime calculationsWhy Apply?Work on high-performance, high-voltage systemsCombine embedded control + power electronicsHands-on role across design, firmware, and validationTXM Recruit is an equal opportunities employer.
