Working closely with the wider team, you’ll help ensure compliance with Ipsum’s commercial standards, support strong financial performance and uphold the company’s values in everything you do. This role offers a great opportunity to develop your commercial expertise while making a meaningful impact across live projects and business operations.
As a Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will…
Support the preparation of tender documentation, pricing schedules and cashflow forecasts, using tender criteria, customer requirements and risk insights to inform commercial decisions.
Assist with reviewing customer contracts (NEC, JCT, FIDIC), completing governance forms, identifying risks and understanding requirements around securities and insurance.
Help maintain commercial controls by supporting CVR preparation, analysing cost and revenue data, tracking contingencies, managing variations/compensation events and contributing to reforecasting cycles.
Contribute to cashflow management, including preparing applications for payment, monitoring WIP, handling pay-less notices or contra charges and assisting with final accounts.
Support day?to?day contract administration such as tracking key dates, managing notices, maintaining contract documentation and understanding termination implications.
Assist with subcontractor management, including onboarding, issuing work packages, reviewing quotations, supporting applications through to payment and monitoring defect notifications.
Work closely with operational teams on site?based commercial tasks, participate in continuous improvement activity and support general commercial duties as required.
About you…
?You have demonstrable experience in a commercial role with a good understanding of how commercial functions operate within multi?divisional businesses. You bring awareness of contractual law, contract types and commercial best practice, along with knowledge of Schedule of Rates, basic measurement techniques and core processes such as tendering, CVRs, WIP and risk management. Working towards a professional membership such as ICES or RICS is desirable, but not essential.
You are eager to develop your career within a commercial environment, showing curiosity, proactive learning and strong attention to detail. With a structured, analytical approach and effective communication skills, you build positive relationships with colleagues, clients and subcontractors. You take ownership of your tasks, work reliably under supervision, and demonstrate resilience and openness to feedback. Above all, you recognise how your contribution supports wider business goals and are committed to safety, quality and delivering excellent service.
