About the role of Assistant Director of People and Culture The Assistant Director of People & Culture works closely alongside the Regional Director of People & Culture and oversees the day‑to‑day running of the People & Culture function. The role will have direct involvement in every aspect of the People and Culture function including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, retention, employee communications, career development, compliance, learning and development, and legal matters related to hotel employees. What You Will Do
Partner with the Regional Director of People and Culture on key strategic initiatives in order to deliver on the employee experience. Oversee day‑to‑day HR operations and drive strategic people initiatives including cost management. Manage employee relations by providing expert coaching, guidance and resolution strategies to leaders and employees, including disciplinary processes, grievances and appeals. Champion retention and engagement initiatives to foster a positive and workplace culture. Facilitate career development programmes and succession planning. Oversee onboarding processes to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for new starters. Ensure compliance with UK employment law and maintain accurate documentation. Inspire and lead a team of three, including an Administrator, Officer, and Talent Acquisition Manager.
What You Bring
Proven HR leadership experience. Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels. Experience with HRIS systems such as Workday and Fourth (Payroll) is preferred, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva and DocuSign. A proactive, solution‑focused mindset with meticulous attention to detail. Passion for people, culture and creating memorable employee experiences. CIPD qualification or equivalent is preferred.
