About the Role of Assistant Director of People and Culture The Assistant Director of People & Culture works closely with the Regional Director of People & Culture and oversees day‑to‑day operations of the People & Culture function. The role includes recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, retention, communications, career development, compliance, learning, and legal matters related to hotel employees. Key Responsibilities
Partner with the Regional Director on key strategic initiatives to enhance the employee experience. Oversee day‑to‑day HR operations and drive people initiatives including cost management. Manage employee relations: coach and guide leaders and employees, handle disciplinary processes, grievances, and appeals. Champion retention and engagement initiatives to foster a positive, inclusive culture. Facilitate career development programmes and succession planning. Oversee onboarding processes to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for new starters. Ensure UK employment law compliance and maintain accurate documentation. Lead a team of three: Administrator, Officer, and Talent Acquisition Manager.
Qualifications
Proven HR leadership experience. Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with HRIS systems such as Workday and Fourth (Payroll); proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, and DocuSign. Proactive, solution‑focused mindset with meticulous attention to detail. Passion for people, culture and creating memorable employee experiences. CIPD qualification or equivalent is preferable.
