1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School - Rochdale

Location: Rochdale, Greater Manchester Role: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant Start Date: After Easter 2026 Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm Contract: Full time, term time only Pay: £90-£110 per day (dependent on experience)

We are currently recruiting for a compassionate and experienced 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil at a welcoming primary school in Rochdale.

This role involves supporting a child with autism and additional complex needs (not severe). The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the pupil's learning, emotional development, and daily care needs within the classroom environment.

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Key responsibilities: * Providing dedicated 1:1 classroom support * Supporting learning activities as directed by the class teacher * Assisting with social interaction and emotional regulation * Supporting transitions and structured routines * Providing personal care support when required * Implementing strategies set by the SENCO * Monitoring and reporting progress * Supporting positive behaviour approaches * Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Essential requirements: * Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (essential) * Previous experience working in UK primary schools (essential) * Experience supporting children with autism or SEN * Willingness to support with personal care * Patient, calm and understanding approach * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) * Right to work in the UK

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Desirable: * Experience working 1:1 * Autism support experience * Team Teach or behaviour training * Knowledge of SEN strategies
