West Sussex Mind is looking for a Youth Mental Health Worker to join our successful young people’s service, BeOK. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated and supportive team working together to help young people aged 16–25 improve their mental health and wellbeing.

We welcome applicants with experience working with young people, such as in youth work, school pastoral roles, housing support projects, or similar settings, who are keen to bring their skills and experience to a mental health support role.

About the Youth Mental Health Worker role

As a Youth Mental Health Worker, you will support young people on their recovery journey by providing a range of support opportunities tailored to their needs.

Your role will include:

* Delivering recovery-focused one-to-one support sessions, group activities and learning opportunities for young people

* Developing and overseeing peer-led support opportunities within the service

* Providing outreach support in settings where young people are, helping to increase access to mental health support

* Line managing a peer support worker and/or volunteers, supporting them to develop their skills and contribute to the service.

About you

We are looking for someone who has a good understanding of young people’s mental health, gained through training, professional experience, or both.

You will:

* Be confident working independently and using your initiative

* Be enthusiastic about recovery-focused mental health support

* Be a strong team player who brings flexibility, creativity and a positive approach to their work

* Feel comfortable building supportive relationships with young people from a range of backgrounds

Location and travel

Applicants will be required to work in range of locations and sites in Worthing, Adur, Arun or the Chichester District. The base of the role can be Southwick, Worthing or Littlehampton but the role will require flexibility so an independent means of transport is preferred. Mileage will be paid for travel beyond the agreed base.
