Year 6 Teacher & Head of Maths - Independent Prep School | Inner London | September 2026

Location: North London

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Maternity Cover, Full Time

Salary: £45,000 - £52,000 (depending on experience)

Class Size: 7 pupils

An independent prep school in Inner London is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Year 6 Teacher with Head of Maths responsibility to join the school from September 2026. This position is offered as maternity cover and presents an exciting opportunity for an Upper Key Stage 2 teacher looking to take on a leadership role within a warm and supportive school community.

• A balanced approach combining modern classroom technology with traditional core skills such as phonics, reading and handwriting

This is a unique opportunity as the successful candidate will be teaching the school's first ever Year 6 cohort. The role will involve working closely with senior leadership to design schemes of work, prepare pupils for 11+ examinations and interviews, and develop an engaging enrichment programme following the exams.

Alongside teaching Year 6, the successful candidate will take responsibility for leading Maths across the school, including:

• Leading and developing Mathematics teaching and learning
• Overseeing the Maths curriculum, schemes of work and resources
• Monitoring and analysing assessment and attainment data
• Supporting colleagues with effective Maths teaching strategies
• Promoting a love of Maths through competitions, challenges and enrichment opportunities

The school is particularly interested in candidates who:

• Have Upper KS2 teaching experience
• Demonstrate a strong track record of excellent classroom teaching
• Ideally have independent school experience
• Have experience preparing pupils for 11+ examinations
• Are enthusiastic about leading and developing Maths across a school
