We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Yard Operative to join our busy builders merchants team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the yard, ensuring materials are handled safely, customers are served efficiently, and stock is well organised.Key Responsibilities:

• Loading and unloading building materials using a forklift
• Serving trade and retail customers in the yard
• Picking and preparing orders accurately
• Organising and maintaining stock levels and yard layout
• Carrying out regular stock checks
• Ensuring the yard is clean, safe, and well presented at all times
• Following all health and safety procedures

Requirements:

• Valid forklift licence (Counterbalance essential; other licences advantageous)
• Previous experience in a similar yard, warehouse, or builders merchants environment preferred
• Good knowledge of building materials (desirable but not essential)
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling

Desirable Skills:

• Experience working with trade customers
• Basic IT skills for stock systems
• Team player with a proactive attitude
