Job SpecificationJob Title: Warehouse ManagerLocation: Ellesmere PortSalary: £35-40,000 DOEThe Site/Warehouse Manager is responsible for the technical and administrative leadership of the recycling site. This includes direct oversight of all site operations, coordination and performance management of shift supervisors and operatives, and ensuring compliance with operational, environmental, and safety regulations.Operational OversightManage daily site operations: material intake, inventory, sorting, baling, storage, and dispatchMonitor throughput, load cycles, and plant uptime using real-time data and KPIsDrive production efficiency, quality control, and cost-effectivenessContribute to site layout planning and enforce complianceStaff Supervision & Shift ManagementOversee shift supervisors and operatives across all shifts (day/night/weekend)Maintain shift rotas to ensure adequate staffing and workload balanceConduct performance reviews, set objectives, and assess competenciesLead daily briefings, shift handovers, and escalation of operational issuesHealth, Safety & ComplianceEnforce compliance with RAMS, COSHH, and safety protocolsLead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and preventive actionsMaintain statutory records: fire drills, inspections, PPE logs, audits, and trainingEnsure compliance with Environment Agency permits, ISO 14001/45001, and waste documentationTechnical & Administrative ManagementOversee maintenance of plant and MHE, coordinating with engineering and contractorsManage procurement of consumables, spares, and toolsMaintain dashboards and produce regular operational reports (KPIs, tonnage, downtime, staffing, compliance)Track budgets, support purchasing decisions, and recommend cost-saving measuresPrepare for and coordinate site auditsProcess Improvement & SystemsEnsure product quality via quality assurance checks and lab evaluationsImplement Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiativesIdentify and resolve process bottlenecksSupport WMS and digital platform integration and useRequired Skills , Experience , & QualificationsMinimum 5 years' experience in operations or warehouse/site management, preferably within recycling, waste management, or heavy industryStrong understanding of recycling plant equipment and material handling systemsProven team leadership and supervisory experience across multiple shiftsKnowledge of environmental regulations and waste classification (EWC codes, Duty of Care)Strong IT skills: MS Excel, ERP/WMS systems, and reporting toolsNEBOSH or IOSH Managing Safety certification (strongly preferred)Relevant waste management certifications (e.g., CIWM/ WAMITAB certifications) and/or relevant undergraduate degree in waste managementFLT/Baler/Shredder equipment competence or license (desirable)relevant certifications or degrees in logistics, supply chain management , or business administration #J-18808-Ljbffr
