Warehouse Lead – Manufacturing


Location: Skelmersdale (On-Site Role)

Salary: Up to £23.08

Industry: Manufacturing / Engineering

Contract: 6-Month initial contract but high chance of extending


Scope:

A large operational site is seeking an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to support day-to-day warehouse operations. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead a large warehouse team responsible for supplying materials to production and managing the picking and packing of customer orders for despatch.

This role focuses on delivering daily performance across safety, quality, service, cost, and employee engagement, while also driving improvements in inventory accuracy and establishing consistent standard work across warehouse activities.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide front-line leadership and supervision to warehouse employees within the assigned area.
  • Lead daily warehouse operations to ensure safe, accurate, and on-time material supply and order despatch.
  • Drive safety performance by identifying hazards, maintaining risk assessments, and closing safety actions.
  • Establish and lead Tier 2 meetings, coaching operators on inventory accuracy, quality conformance, and problem resolution.
  • Monitor operational performance including throughput, quality, cost, and order status.
  • Collate productivity data and reports to support Tier 3 performance reviews.
  • Drive improvements in inventory accuracy and stock control processes.
  • Influence and engage teams to adopt change, improve standards, and enhance warehouse performance.


About You:


  • Previous warehouse supervisory or team leadership experience (required for immediate effectiveness).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence teams and stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of safe warehouse operations (e.g. manual handling, LOTO, COSHH).
  • Ability to prioritise work, lead under pressure, and drive consistent performance.
  • Experience working in a warehouse environment with FLTs, man-up or ride-on trucks.
  • Exposure to inventory management and stock accuracy initiatives.
  • SAP or Warehouse Management System experience (training and support available).
