An iconic family-owned company with a strong community brand seeks a talented Vice President of Safety & Risk Management to join the Kinsley Enterprise team.
The Vice President of Safety & Risk Management (VP-SRM) is an executive role that provides leadership, collaboration, and subject matter expertise to Safety and Risk professionals, CEOs, and CFOs, focusing on risk management, safety policies, regulatory matters, and claims management. In this capacity, the VP-SRM is responsible for defining and executing the safety and risk management strategy for Kinsley Enterprises. The VP-SRM must provide thought leadership and direction to address risk transfer through insurance policies, claims management, evolving regulatory trends, crisis management plans, and provide counsel to company executives, and other staff in the resolution of major claims or investigatory matters.
This position collaborates with company executives to shape and mature the safety culture throughout the Kinsley organization, including development and maintenance of training programs, safety policies and procedures, and reporting of safety and risk KPIs.
This role requires deep subject matter expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively, share information, and negotiate effectively in representing the organization's interests. Provides crisis management expertise on the most difficult cases, ensuring the safety, health, and welfare of the employees are addressed while enabling management to build effective responses to emergency situations.
The Vice President of Safety & Risk Management represents the organization with key advisors, providers of service, government agencies, or councils, such as but not limited to insurance carriers and brokers, OSHA, and the Safety Council. Representation of the organization at mediation, depositions, court appearances, and arbitrations. Assign outside counsel to investigate specific claims.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides thought leadership to Safety and Risk professionals throughout the organization.
Effectively collaborates with company leaders to identify and eliminate, reduce, and mitigate risks in Kinsley operating companies. Consults with leadership at Kinsley Enterprises and provides guidance to address wide-ranging topics in safety, risk, and claims management.
Accountable for the execution and continued enhancement of the enterprise risk management framework, including its risk appetite statement, and related processes to achieve its short-term and long-term strategic, financial, and operational goals.
Actively engages with property and casualty insurance brokers in the management of insurance policies.
Consults with Safety and Risk leaders to ensure appropriate training programs are in place.
Consults with Safety and Risk leaders & CFO's regarding claims management.
Acts as an advisor to all company leaders on safety policy, safety-related crisis matters, investigations, and claims management.
Negotiates claims or fines and assigns external resources to key claims or cases when warranted.
Ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies, and safeguards the organization's reputation and integrity.
Monitors external environment and industry trends and practices and makes recommendations to senior management, as appropriate. Contributes to the identification of, and planning for, emerging risks.
Annually conducts a safety assessment of Kinsley operating companies while ensuring key accident/incident reporting processes are in place.
Monitors and manages claims and attends claims review meetings to guide resolution.
Reviews insurance coverages including limits/retention and uninsured risks for companies.
Conducts regular meetings with company Safety and Risk leaders.
Identifies, defines, and reports on key safety and risk management metrics.
Monitors safety training schedules with company Safety leaders.
Provides due diligence support for newly acquired companies.
Manages external partnerships to strategically oversee the insurance renewals.
Collaborates with Kinsley companies' operations teams to deliver effective training processes and programs to minimize risk and establish incident management protocols.
Provides relevant information to key stakeholders on claims or crisis situations.

Education and Experience we are looking for:
Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, EMS, or Safety fields required, MBA helpful but not required
10-12 plus years of experience, preferably in leadership roles in safety, risk management, claims management, or related experiences
Certifications in CSP, GSP, ASP, or related insurance certifications are helpful
Experience with OSHA, MSHA, and insurance claims professionals is required for success in this role
Strong working knowledge of construction industry safety codes required, as well as experience with insurance claims management
