About the Role
As Vehicle Damage Assessment Lead, you will act as the senior technical authority across Motofix’s central and site-based VDA teams. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining complex assessment work with coaching, governance, and performance oversight. You will ensure safe, compliant, and commercially sound repair decisions, driving consistent standards across all locations. Working closely with insurers, engineers, customers, and operational leaders, you will help protect margin, improve cycle time, and uphold Motofix’s reputation for quality. The role is both office-based and field-based, supporting repair centres through audits, coaching, complex assessments, and issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Functional Oversight
* Act as a subject-matter expert for repair methodology, assessment standards, and insurer engagement.
* Set and embed VDA best practice, ensuring consistency of approach, documentation, and decision-making across the Group.
* Support recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing development of VDA team members.
Damage Assessment & Repair Methodology
* Define safe, compliant, and commercially viable repair methods in line with BSI 10125, OEM standards
* Produce and review timely, accurate assessments using Audatex, GT Motive, or equivalent systems
* Ensure SLA compliance and authorised costs are correctly captured.
Insurer, Engineer & Stakeholder Engagement
* Provide technical justification for repair approaches and manage disputed assessments.
* Act as a trusted technical interface between Motofix, insurers, engineers, and operational teams.
Commercial Performance & Control
* Drive margin protection and improvement by optimising labour sales, Zone-99 allowances and reducing leakage.
* Monitor VDA-related KPIs, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
* Support operational teams in balancing quality, efficiency, and profitability.
Customer Experience & Quality
* Encourage professional communication with clients ensuring repair methods and outcomes are well explained.
* Ensure repair methods consistently exceed client quality and cost expectations
Compliance, Audit & Continuous Improvement
* Ensure full compliance with health & safety, housekeeping standards, BSI 10125, OEM requirements
* Review assessments and job packs to identify non-compliance, process drift, and training needs.
* Contribute to internal audits, technical reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives across the VDA function.
About You
You are a highly experienced, commercially astute Vehicle Damage Assessor who takes ownership of standards and outcomes. You are confident operating at senior level, enjoy leading and developing others, and are comfortable balancing technical precision with business and customer demands. You are credible with insurers and engineers, calm under pressure, and respected for your judgement, consistency, and professionalism.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in vehicle damage assessment.
Strong working knowledge of modern repair methods, OEM standards, and BSI 10125 compliance.
Proven ability to balance quality, efficiency, and profitability.
Confident communicator with insurers, engineers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
Experience supporting, mentoring, or leading others in VDA best practice.
Comfortable working with KPIs, audits, and performance reporting.
Proficient in Audatex, GT Motive, or equivalent estimating platforms.
IMI VDA Accreditation (essential).
Full use of Office 365 suite.
