This position is integral to ensuring roadworthiness, safety, and compliance with legal standards, supporting fleet decarbonisation, and contributing to the Council’s Climate Change Action Plan. Day-to-day of the role: Inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles, plant, and equipment to statutory and internal standards. Diagnose faults using both manual and computer-based systems. Conduct MOT and taxi tests, roadworthiness checks, and provide breakdown recovery services. Operate a variety of diagnostic and testing equipment. Maintain accurate service and repair records. Perform welding and fabrication of parts as needed. Drive and operate a range of vehicles and plant. Mentor apprentices and support less experienced staff.
