In this role you will join a BMA team helping UK water utilities in their ambitious goal to rebalance aging infrastructure with climate and water supply resilience, ensuring sustainable water systems and networks for future generations while balancing customer affordability.

Job Description
As a Value Delivery Consultant at BMA, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our Decisio platform and using it to help our clients make better decisions now and in the long term. Your primary focus will be on leveraging your expertise in rawwater and/or potable water management , combined with planning and data science skills, to enable the optimisation of performance, resilience, and sustainability of water for our clients. While the initial focus of the role will be in the raw and potable water sector, there will be wider opportunities across our waste water, bioresources and energy infrastructure clients.
Key responsibilities
The role will require you to be part of a rapidly growing company that has a wide-ranging customer base spread across numerous industry verticals in the water, wastewater & energy sectors, amongst others.
- Drive customer and stakeholder satisfaction through proactive understanding of client business requirements, translating them into modelling solutions. This role is primarily customer-facing.
- Lead and attend workshop sessions with business stakeholders from time to time to determine business requirements for end-use cases to be deployed.
- Inform clients' strategic Resource Management Plans and Long-Term Delivery Strategies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, using the Decisio platform.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support and enable systems planning, offering guidance on strategic planning opportunities, network efficiency optimisation,and resilience planning during critical asset unavailability.
- Learn the core technologies used by BMA and become familiar with the BMA’s proprietary Decision Intelligence software platform, Decisio, to create detailed digital representations of clients' connected systems of assets in the raw water, potable water sectors.
- Gather, transform, and validate data to design. As well as to make use of available technologies to build and validate solution behaviour.
- Conduct comprehensive scenario analysis and network design optimisation to enhance system performance, efficiency, and resilience, considering various operational constraints, environmental factors, and the strategic ambitions of the client.
- Understand existing mathematical models and develop additional logic to meet both internal and clients’ requirements.
- Participate in all aspects of system development, testing, deployment, and feedback with the overarching objective to further enhance and develop Decisio for the benefit of the Company and its customers (this could require interaction with other company employees geographically situated around the world).
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Water Engineering, Water Sciences, Data Science, Statistical and Decision Sciences, or a STEM related field.
- Exposure to or hands-on experience in planning processes in network planning related to water treatment, clean water management and/or production planning.
- Production, tactical or strategic planningwithin another relevant industry or sector.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, and a basic knowledge of other tools and techniques—such as MS SQL Server, Power Bi and other tools in the MS suite.
- A proven track record of driving innovation, delivering results, and adapting to dynamic and fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Extremely Advantageous
- Previous exposure or use of industry related optimisation models (particularly tools like PyWR)
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices in raw water and/or potable water management.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive scenario analysis, optimisation modelling, and investment planning, with a keen understanding of the interplay betweentechnical, economic, and environmentalfactors.
- Familiarity and knowledge of linear programming, and other optimisation methods implemented in tools such as Python.
