Transport Shift Manager

Oversee HGV drivers and transport operations to keep deliveries running safely and on time on a 4 on 4 off pattern. You'll coordinate routes, monitor compliance and support performance so each shift runs smoothly and efficiently.

£36,000-£38,000 per annum, permanent full-time 4 on 4 off, 12-hour rotating days and nights Middleton, Manchester

About the role

As Transport Shift Manager you'll take ownership for your shift across driver supervision, route planning, compliance and performance reporting. The role exists to maintain safe, efficient and compliant transport operations while supporting wider operational and cost objectives.

What you'll do * Manage and supervise a team of HGV drivers and transport staff * Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed safely and on time * Monitor driver hours, tachograph compliance and Working Time Directive adherence * Oversee route planning efficiency and fleet utilisation * Conduct driver briefings and debriefs for each shift * Handle issues including delays, breakdowns and customer queries * Maintain compliance with the Road Traffic Act, DVSA requirements and other transport legislation * Complete KPI reporting and analyse shift performance * Support the Transport Manager with operational performance and cost control

What you'll need * Previous experience as a high performing Transport Supervisor or Transport Shift Manager * Strong knowledge of driver hours regulations and tachograph rules * Experience managing HGV drivers in a busy logistics environment * Understanding of transport compliance and fleet operations * CPC (desirable)
