An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transport Planner to join our Highways Development Planning team at Hampshire County Council.
Are you looking for a challenging and diverse role working as part of a friendly and supportive team, with an opportunity to make a real difference?
Highways Development Planning plays an important role in shaping new communities. We do this through our advice on development proposals, influencing place making and ensuring new development is supported by necessary highway and transport infrastructure. We implement the County Council’s transport policy and guidance when responding to planning applications. To do this we review technical documents and plans, such as transport assessments and internal site layout drawings to provide recommendations on planning applications on behalf of the Highway Authority.
The Role:
As a Transport Planner you will play a key role in supporting the team to provide development planning advice on behalf of the Highway Authority and assisting to achieve the County Council's wider place-shaping approach. What you’ll do:
As a transport planner you will independently review planning applications and consider the highway and transport implication of new development proposals. You will have responsibility for your own caseload which will require you to review and interpret technical reports and drawings, undertake site visits across Hampshire and provide formal written responses on behalf of the Highway Authority. You will build upon your existing transport planning and/or planning knowledge which will enable you to take responsibility for a range of minor and major planning applications.
