Trainee NDT Technician

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the Sheffield area are looking to recruit a Trainee NDT Technician to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in forging, welding, inspection, or NDT, looking to develop their skills within a highly respected engineering environment.
You’ll be supporting experienced Technicians in carrying out NDE inspection activities, ensuring materials are inspected, released correctly, and free from NCRs. The role involves both in‑house and on‑site inspection work, with exposure to 3rd‑party witness activities.
Role Responsibilities
* Support Technicians in carrying out NDE inspections using approved techniques and methods
* Perform in‑house and on‑site NDT activities throughout the production route
* Ensure all material is inspected and released with zero NCRs
* Assist with 3rd‑party witness involvement as required
* Follow defined standards, procedures, and customer requirements
Competencies
* Genuine interest in the forging and/or welding industry
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Able to take and follow instructions accurately
* Strong communication skills
* Good decision‑making ability and excellent attention to detail
* Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Understanding of NDT specifications and procedures
* Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working to tight deadlines
Qualifications & Requirements
* 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English and Maths
* Prior experience /knowledge of welding/ fabrication/ NDT is highly advantageous
* Good aided or unaided eyesight to meet mandatory NDT vision standards
* Physically fit to operate safely within an industrial environment
