Working alongside experienced engineers, the Trainee HGV Mechanic (LGV / Vehicle Technician) will support maintenance, servicing and repair activities across a fleet of heavy and light goods vehicles. This role offers hands-on training and career development within a professional workshop environment.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Trainee HGV Mechanic (LGV / Vehicle Technician) include:

• Assist with Maintenance and Repairs: Supporting servicing, maintenance and repair of HGVs and LGVs

• Carry out Inspections: Performing routine vehicle checks and basic diagnostics

• Support Senior Mechanics: Assisting with complex mechanical and engineering repairs

• Maintain Workshop Standards: Keeping the workshop clean, organised and safe

• Ensure Compliance: Following health and safety regulations and workshop procedures

• Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate documentation of work completed

• Tool and Equipment Use: Using workshop tools and equipment safely and effectively

• Continuous Learning: Developing mechanical knowledge and practical skills through training

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• Genuine interest in vehicle mechanics, HGVs and LGVs

• Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills

• Basic mechanical knowledge or understanding of vehicle systems

• Strong work ethic with a positive and proactive attitude

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

DESIRABLE

• Apprentice trained or working towards a recognised qualification

• City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Maintenance & Repair or equivalent

• Full UK driving licence
