Town Planner Job Type: Initial 6-month temporary contract Organisation: Stockport Council Working Arrangement: Hybrid - 2 days in the office Stockport Council are seeking a qualified Town Planner with a robust understanding of planning legislation and a proven track record in managing diverse application types. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in a local authority planning department, particularly those with expertise in greenbelt and conservation areas. Day-to-day of the role: Conduct detailed planning assessments and prepare reports on a variety of applications, including those related to greenbelt and conservation areas. Manage and prioritise workloads effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes. Undertake site visits as required, ensuring all planning considerations are thoroughly evaluated. Collaborate with stakeholders, including local communities, developers, and government bodies, to facilitate transparent and effective planning processes. Provide expert advice and guidance on planning legislation and policies to support decision-making processes. Required Skills & Qualifications: RTPI membership or eligibility/progress towards joining. Strong knowledge of planning legislation, particularly relating to greenbelt and conservation areas.
