Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well established and highly respected planning consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their growing Edinburgh team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Town Planner to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across Scotland, supporting both public and private sector clients. The role would suit a motivated Town Planner looking to build strong consultancy experience within a collaborative and commercially focused environment.
The Role
As a Town Planner, you will support the delivery of planning advice across a wide range of sectors including residential, commercial, infrastructure and energy developments. You will be involved in projects from early-stage appraisals through to application submission and post-consent work.
Key responsibilities will include:
Preparing and managing planning applications and supporting documents
Undertaking planning appraisals and policy research
Liaising with local authorities, stakeholders and clients
Supporting appeals and representations to development plans
Assisting senior colleagues with project delivery and client management
About You
To be successful in this Town Planner role, you will ideally have:
A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline
Experience working in a planning consultancy or local authority environment
A solid understanding of the Scottish planning system
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A proactive, organised approach with good attention to detail
Progress toward RTPI accreditation (or willingness to work towards it)
