Town Planner / Planning Officer – Data Infrastructure Projects £550–£600 per day | Contract | UK-based (Remote with limited site interface)
A leading UK digital infrastructure and data-centre operator is seeking an experienced Town Planner / Planning Officer to support planning and development activities across a growing portfolio of mission-critical facilities.
This organisation owns and operates highly secure, technically advanced data centres supporting some of the UK’s most demanding enterprise and cloud clients. With long-term investment, a strong development pipeline, and an in-house delivery model, they offer a stable and professional environment for senior planning specialists.
The Role
You will provide planning expertise across live and upcoming data-centre developments, supporting applications, variations, and stakeholder engagement while ensuring compliance with local and national planning policy.
This is a flexible contract role, well suited to an experienced planner looking for a high-value, low-friction engagement within a technically sophisticated organisation.
Key Responsibilities
• Support planning strategy for data centre and digital infrastructure developments • Prepare and manage planning applications, amendments, and supporting documentation • Liaise with local authorities, consultants, and internal project teams • Advise on planning risk, constraints, and mitigation strategies • Support discharge of planning conditions and ongoing compliance • Contribute planning input to development programmes and project timelines
Requirements
• Proven experience as a Town Planner or Planning Officer • Strong understanding of UK planning policy and development control • Experience with large-scale infrastructure, industrial, or complex commercial projects • Confident dealing with local authorities and key stakeholders • Ability to work independently and provide clear, pragmatic advice
