Senior Mechanical / Physical Test Engineer

Location: Halifax / Elland, West Yorkshire (HX5)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 per week | On-site (5 days)

The Role

We are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical / Physical Test Engineer to join a global manufacturer of safety‑critical physical protection systems. This is a practical, hands‑on role focused on full‑scale mechanical and impact testing to validate product strength, performance and safety.

This position is site‑based and suited to engineers who enjoy working on the test floor with real products and rigs.

Please note: this is not a software or electronics testing role.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan and deliver physical product testing programmes

* Set up test rigs and carry out mechanical and impact tests

* Maintain test schedules and support resource planning

* Supervise and support test engineers and technicians

* Ensure health & safety and quality standards are met

* Produce clear technical reports and test summaries

Requirements

* Experience in a mechanical / physical testing or validation environment

* Strong hands‑on mechanical engineering skills

* Knowledge of health & safety and quality systems (ISO or similar)

* Ability to manage multiple test activities and priorities

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience

Desirable

* Knowledge of PAS 13, UNI, ANSI MH31.2 or similar standards

* Experience testing safety barriers or polymer products

* Exposure to specialist test equipment

* Forklift licence
