Temporary Field Operations Engineer - 6 Month DurationDay Rate: £161 - £173 (£42k - £45k equiv) Hours: 40 per week Base: Croydon Travel: Nationwide (regular & reactive travel to client sites required)We're recruiting a highly capable Field Operations Engineer for a 6-month assignment supporting technical deployments and on-site IT operations across multiple UK locations. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for someone who thrives on variety, problem-solving and delivering robust infrastructure solutions in fast-moving environments.The RoleYou'll be the technical backbone of field operations-deploying, maintaining, and optimising IT infrastructure across sites nationwide. Working closely with network engineers, contractors, and local teams, you'll ensure equipment is installed correctly, systems stay stable, and users receive high-quality support.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical DeploymentExecute on-site technical setups across centre locationsRack and cable servers, switches, and associated hardwareSupport installation and initial configuration with network engineersOversee contractor activity to ensure compliance with project specsTravel across the UK (and occasionally abroad) to support deploymentsMaintenance & SupportMaintain OS and application installations, including security patchingMonitor and maintain cooling systems, PDUs, UPS units and other infraSupport user account and permission managementTroubleshoot and maintain printers, scanners, biometric kits, kiosks and other devicesUpgrade and optimise existing infrastructure to improve performanceSurveillance & Endpoint ManagementSet up and maintain surveillance systems (QVR Pro, livestreams, access control)Manage inventory, user accounts, and mobile devicesEnsure regular endpoint updates and security patchingProcurement & Asset ManagementProcure IT equipment and manage timely deliveryMaintain accurate asset records and inventorySource hardware and prepare buying lists in collaboration with ProcurementOther DutiesLiaise with vendors for service contracts and maintenanceParticipate in audits and support remediation actionsEscalate incidents and highlight risks appropriatelyRequired Skills & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent training2+ years' experience in systems engineering or similar technical rolesStrong hands-on experience with IT deployments, cabling and hardware setupExperience with routers and switches (required)VMware or other virtualisation experience (required)MS Active Directory experience (required)Knowledge of: Linux (RHEL/Debian), Bash, VMware, Windows Server, PowerShell, Windows 11, macOSExcellent communication and teamwork skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving mindsetComfortable working in international and multicultural environmentsLove Success is a top recruitment agency based in London, dedicated to connecting exceptional administrative and office support staff with the leading businesses across London and the UK.
