Job Description: You will provide specialist technical support to help the military maintenance community diagnose, resolve, and prevent multi-faceted system faults across the Typhoon aircraft. Working directly on the aircraft, you will deliver advanced diagnostics, recovery support, and industry best practice to maximise availability and reduce No Fault Found events. This role places you at the centre of operational problem‑solving, enabling faster recovery, stronger engineering understanding, and improved fleet performance. Core duties:
Deliver on‑aircraft technical support to resolve multi-faceted system faults and expedite aircraft recovery Prioritise daily technical issues with front‑line engineering teams to meet operational timescales Identify training gaps and provide on‑the‑job coaching, knowledge transfer, and system briefings Interpret technical data to support No Fault Found investigations and highlight potential root causes Work with operators, supervisors, design engineers, suppliers, and quality teams to resolve issues
Essential Skills:
HNC in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent technical experience Ability to interpret system performance, identify trends, investigate root causes, and drive improvement with considerable system fault diagnosis capability, including interpreting highly detailed test results and fault signatures Ability to provide clear, authoritative technical advice to end users and depth maintenance teams Typhoon system or modular course completion, plus avionics‑biased experience ideally at supervisory level
The Technical Support Engineer Team: The team provides deep technical knowledge to help the military maintenance community diagnose and resolve multi-faceted issues across the Typhoon platform. Working collaboratively across BAE Systems and Leonardo, they deliver advanced diagnostics, share best practice, reduce No Fault Found events, and support operators at RAF Coningsby and RAF Lossiemouth.
