Technical Sales Engineer - Industrial Waste Water - North West - (with local and international travel)
About the company
Our client is a specialised engineering business focused on industrial wastewater processing and treatment systems. We are seeking a hands-on Technical Sales Engineer with strong field capability to support system design, optimisation, troubleshooting, and customer implementation.
This role is heavily technical and field-oriented. While the position supports commercial activity, its primary purpose is to apply engineering and chemical knowledge to real-world industrial wastewater challenges, working directly with industrial processes and treatment systems.
This role is ideal for an experienced Technical Sales Engineer who is perhaps looking to reduce their hours while still playing a valuable and rewarding role in a long term project within a business.
Technical Sales Engineer - Requirements
Technical Background
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial wastewater treatment or water process engineering
  • Strong understanding of wastewater chemistry, process control, and treatment mechanisms
  • Ability to interpret analytical data and translate results into practical engineering solutions
  • Comfortable working independently in industrial and field environments
Desirable Background
  • Field chemist or field-based analytical background, including hands-on sampling and testing
  • Experience with treatability testing, jar testing, and process optimisation
  • Exposure to industrial sectors such as chemicals, manufacturing, food & beverage, metals, mining, or energy
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance requirements and discharge standards
Technical Sales Engineer - Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site technical assessments of industrial wastewater systems, including process evaluation and performance diagnostics
  • Collect wastewater samples and carry out field and laboratory analytical testing (e.g., pH, COD/BOD, TSS, metals, nutrients, jar testing, treatability studies)
  • Design, evaluate, and optimise wastewater treatment processes, including chemical, physical, and biological treatment methods
  • Provide technical recommendations for system improvements, process control, and compliance
  • Support system commissioning, startup, and operational troubleshooting
  • Develop technical documentation, including process descriptions, operating parameters, and performance reports
  • Work closely with internal engineering teams to refine system designs and treatment strategies
  • Support customers with technical training and operational guidance
  • Contribute technical input to proposals and project scoping as required
