We are recruiting for a well-established cutting and metal processing company based in Sheffield, supplying precision-cut steel components to a wide range of industries. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Technical Sales Engineer to join our client's team, someone with a solid technical background and a genuine passion for engineering and customer service.\n\nThe Role of a Technical Sales Engineer\n\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for developing and growing customer accounts, from handling initial enquiries through to order completion and delivery. You’ll combine your technical understanding of cutting, steel materials, and CAD drawings with strong communication and organisational skills to deliver an exceptional customer experience.\nThis is a customer-facing, technically-focused sales role requiring the ability to interpret 2D and 3D CAD files, break down complex assemblies, and confidently discuss material specifications and production requirements.

You’ll work closely with our CAD, Production, and Accounts teams to ensure each project runs smoothly and to the highest standard.\nA background in engineering, fabrication, or steel stockholding will be highly advantageous, as will experience within the laser cutting or metal manufacturing sector.\nKey Responsibilities of a Technical Sales Engineer\n\nManage and grow existing customer accounts while proactively developing new business opportunities.\nInterpret and break down 2D and 3D CAD drawings and assemblies to prepare accurate quotations.\nAdvise customers on steel grades, thicknesses, and material suitability for laser cutting projects.\nHandle customer enquiries via phone and email, providing technical support and guidance.\nCoordinate closely with internal teams to ensure accurate order progression and on-time delivery.\nMaintain a high standard of service, professionalism, and technical accuracy in all communications.\nPersonal Specification of a Technical Sales Engineer\n\nStrong Maths and English skills.\nComputer literate with experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).\nProficient in reading and understanding 2D & 3D technical drawings.\nExperience breaking down CAD assemblies for quotation and production.\nWorking knowledge of steel specifications and stockholding.\nExcellent interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving skills.\nConfident working independently while contributing positively to a team.\nPrevious experience in technical sales, engineering, fabrication\nWillingness to learn – full product and process training will be provided.\n\nBenefits\n\n32 days holiday (including bank holidays)\nAnnual Bonus Scheme\nFree on-site parking\nFull training and development opportunities\nSupportive, team-oriented working environment\n\nDisclaimer\n\nAt Venatu Recruitment Group, your right to privacy is important to us.
