Technical Program Manager – Biology & AI

My client is a fast-growing biotechnology company at the cutting edge of biological discovery. By combining a proprietary multi-billion-gene dataset with advanced AI and machine learning, they are redefining what is possible in genomics, therapeutics, nutrition, and agriculture.
Having recently closed a significant Series B round of funding, they have scaled their data asset tenfold, creating one of the world’s largest biological datasets. The team comprises biologists, engineers, ML researchers, and field scientists who collaborate across disciplines to uncover previously undiscovered biology and translate it into actionable insights.
The Role
My client is seeking a highly capable Technical Programme Manager to join their London-based team within the CTO’s office. This role will work across Genomics, Engineering, AI, Product, and Computational Biology teams to ensure smooth delivery of complex technical programmes.
The successful candidate will coordinate cross-functional initiatives, optimise operational processes, manage key partnerships, and oversee the tools and infrastructure that support the company’s technical operations. This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on operator to contribute to scaling a frontier biotech company during a period of rapid growth.
Key Responsibilities
Cross-Functional Coordination: Plan and execute initiatives spanning multiple technical teams, ensuring alignment of objectives and timelines. Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to workflows, systems, and tools to enhance operational efficiency. External Partnership Management: Manage relationships with research collaborators, universities, and technology vendors. Tooling & Infrastructure Oversight: Ensure internal systems and tools meet the needs of technical teams and integrate effectively. Cloud & IT Liaison: Monitor cloud and HPC usage, costs, and scaling needs; work with providers to maintain robust infrastructure. Operational Strategy & Support: Assist leadership in resource planning, budgeting, and strategic operational initiatives. Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate communication and documentation to support transparency and alignment across teams.
Essential:
Previous BioAI/ BioTech/ Science experience Exposure to large AI models & ML infrastructure 5+ years of experience in technical programme management, technical operations, or related roles in technology-driven organisations. Proven ability to manage complex projects across multiple teams. Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS), CI/CD, data pipelines, or other modern technical workflows. Experience managing external vendors or technical partners. Proactive, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-moving environment.
