Role Overview The Technical Compliance Manager supports the Product Safety & Compliance (PS&C) function. This role leads on regulatory tracking, operational compliance activities, export control governance, and safety incident investigation processes, working closely with cross‑functional teams to maintain robust compliance standards. What you’ll be doing Regulatory Compliance
Support comprehensive legal tracking to ensure PS&C legislative requirements are clearly communicated and implemented across the business before enforcement. Conduct horizon scanning of global regulations and standards affecting consumer electronics. Monitor PS&C related policy developments and provide technical support to policy teams for proposed legislative changes.
Operational Compliance
Lead as the global subject‑matter expert on emerging compliance areas such as cybersecurity, AI, and parental control legislation, defining scope in collaboration with relevant teams. Support the operational rollout of compliance activities, including warnings, declarations of conformity, certifications, and online notices. Manage battery compliance requirements, including dangerous goods classifications, state of charge requirements, and consumer information. Support PS&C with certification processes for new product launches by coordinating with external testing labs and ensuring alignment with timelines, sales targets, and market entry plans. Contribute to consumer information management and related compliance obligations.
Export Controls
Oversee the import and export of controlled goods to ensure compliance with relevant export laws and regulations. Track export control requirements and communicate with external stakeholders as necessary. Implement and manage system and access controls for export control activities, including approval workflows for employees, contractors, third parties and foreign nationals. Partner with Legal, Engineering, IT, and R&D teams to design and maintain compliance solutions. Deliver training and maintain records, audit trails, and export control documentation.
Alleged Safety Incident Investigations
Work collaboratively with the legal team to lead investigations into alleged safety incidents for the EMEA region, ensuring thorough root‑cause analyses and implementation of corrective actions. Launch and train stakeholders on the Regional Alleged Incident Database, including customer service, legal, and technical services teams. Drive improvements to the safety incident process, ensuring clear ownership across departments. Conduct annual audits of Technical Service Centres and call centres to improve SLAs, enhance investigation quality, and support effective case creation and management.
Team and Organisational Support
Provide compliance training and guidance across internal teams. Perform administrative and system‑based tasks, including holiday cover where needed. Support broader Environment & Technical Compliance initiatives as required.
What we’re looking for Qualifications & Experience
Undergraduate engineering degree or equivalent. 5+ years’ experience in product compliance within consumer goods, electronics, or a regulated industry.
Skills & Competencies
Strong ability to interpret complex regulations and convert them into clear business requirements. Excellent analytical skills, including managing large datasets for reporting. Proven stakeholder management capability, with experience influencing product, logistics, security, and operations teams. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple regulatory programmes simultaneously. Experience operating within global, complex, matrixed organisations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP experience beneficial. Good IT skills.
