Overview
We are seeking a proactive and Technical Manager to join our growing technical team in Norfolk. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality, food safety, and compliance across our production and supply operations, while supporting excellent service for internal and external customers. This is a hands-on role that works closely with production, quality assurance, operations and commercial teams to uphold and continuously improve processes that meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
As Technical Manager, you’ll contribute to product excellence and customer satisfaction by leading technical initiatives, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, practical experience in food manufacturing, and a passion for delivering results that delight customers.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of technical strategies that support product quality, food safety and customer requirements.

Act as the key technical contact for internal stakeholders and external customers regarding product specifications, quality standards and technical queries.
*
Monitor production processes and systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, industry certifications and customer specifications.
*
Manage and coordinate testing, sampling and inspection programmes across raw materials, in-process products and finished goods.
*
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce non-conformances, and minimise customer complaints.
*
Support new product introductions and process changes with robust technical validation and documentation.
*
Provide technical support for customer audits, supplier certifications and third-party inspections.
*
Prepare and present technical reports, quality data and performance indicators to senior leadership and customers as required.
*
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, quality assurance, procurement, and sales to deliver technical solutions that meet business and customer needs.
Experience & Skills
*
Proven experience in a technical, quality or production support role within food manufacturing, processing or similar industry (ideally poultry or meat processing).
*
Strong knowledge of food safety systems and standards (HACCP, BRCGS, Red Tractor, RSPCA/Organic Assurance frameworks or equivalent).
*
Demonstrable ability to interpret customer specifications and translate them effectively into operational and technical activities.
*
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across departments and with external partners.
*
Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
*
Ability to lead technical investigations, corrective actions, and continual improvement projects.
*
A relevant qualification in food science is desirable.
